Growing up seeing medications being abused, Autumn was inspired to break the cycle and follow a different path. She’s achieved that and more—and is ready for her next step.

Tell us about your inspiration and career journey.

I grew up seeing pharmaceuticals misused and abused. Instead of following that same pathway, it inspired me to break the cycle. One of the high schools I attended had a job fair presentation for pharmacy technicians. Instantly I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do! I work within the pharmacy corporate group for our health system and serve on the Medication Safety and Crash Cart Committee. I'd like to take the next step in my career. I am up for a good challenge and ready for whatever that may be!

How have PTCB’s certificates helped you?

My director of corporate pharmacy services has been very supportive of my achievements. In one of our pharmacy meetings, she announced and congratulated me for receiving my advanced certification. She even had a sign made through our marketing department that said, "I have received my advanced certification!" and is having my photo posted on social media! My PTCB certificates will be the foundation for furthering my pharmacy technician career. They show my drive and passion.

What advice would you give pharmacy technicians as they explore their career paths?

Push yourself. Knowledge is power. Your career and community would benefit from having another driven and knowledgeable technician!
