PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Programs are a key component for technicians seeking to earn PTCB credentials. To be recognized, programs are required to attest that their curriculum meets our knowledge requirements for that particular credential.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Starting in 2020, PTCB requires applicants for the CPhT Certification to complete a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program OR equivalent work experience.
Programs not meeting our requirements may enhance their curriculum and attest in the future. Program recognition is part of fulfilling our mission to advance medication safety and serves to set uniform curriculum requirements for PTCB-Recognized Education/Training.
PTCB recognizes education/training programs accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists/Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ASHP/ACPE) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Through ASHP/ACPE or ABHES accreditation status, your program is automatically PTCB-recognized and you do not need to submit an attestation.
The process to become PTCB-recognized for the CPhT Program is free and completed online. It is a key step for pharmacy technician education/training programs that ensures their students are prepared and eligible for PTCB Certification. Once an education/training program is PTCB-recognized, students who complete it fulfill PTCB’s 2020 eligibility requirements.
The process to become PTCB-recognized for the CSPT Program and/or any PTCB Assessment-Based Certificate Program is free. To apply for recognition, programs should submit a PTCB Help Center request.
