For organizations that want to pay for their technician students’ or employees’ credential exam fees, renewal fees, or the Official PTCB Practice Exam, we offer a number of options for your organization to be billed directly. 

Direct billing is a simple way for employers and educators to pay for pharmacy technician employees or students to earn or renew PTCB credentials.

Avoid the hassle of cumbersome reimbursement paperwork by taking advantage of PTCB’s online process for identifying eligible candidates, and submit payment in bulk.

Access PTCB’s secure portal to manage your pharmacy technician candidates, add and withdraw eligibility, and create your own confidential reporting so you can view and track pass/fail exam results of your eligible test-takers.

There’s no fee to enroll.

Direct billing is free for participating organizations. The only cost you incur is for exam or recertification fees of eligible candidates.

How Direct Billing Works

Those who enroll in direct billing enjoy a streamlined process for identifying eligible candidates for certification, recertification, and/or certificate programs using one of the following methods of your choosing.

  1. Pre-approval: An organization account manager uploads a list of eligible candidates’ employee IDs. (This upload of eligible IDs is required for each recertification period should the organization choose to pay for certification renewal.) The pre-approval method is ideal for organizations that have a predetermined list of eligible candidates’ employee IDs.
  2. Vouchers: An organization creates vouchers on-demand and distributes them to eligible candidates. (Vouchers will have to be created for each recertification period should the organization choose to pay for certification renewal.)
    • Voucher Method Payment Options:
      • If your organization wants to pre-pay for a preset number of vouchers for the Official PTCB Practice Exam, certifications, renewals, or other credentials, notify PTCB that your organization would like to pre-pay at the time of enrolling.

We have the flexibility to work with your organization if you would like to build payment of the exam fee into your Learning Management System (LMS). For more information on this topic please submit a Help Center Request indicating you would like to know more about LMS integration

The person who submits the Help Center request inquiring about enrollment will be assigned as the account manager, or point of contact, for your organization. If you would like additional account managers included for your organization’s account, please provide their contact information in your Help Center request.

Direct Billing Payment Process

Enrolled organizations are provided with access to ConnectBooster, our invoicing platform. Organizations receive monthly invoices by email for candidates who took any of the credential exams, the Official PTCB Practice Exam, or for CPhTs who completed recertification during the previous month. There is no payment due at the time a candidate submits their application.

Pre-Payment and Purchase Orders

For organizations that wish to pre-pay for a preset number of vouchers, we accept the payment upfront in bulk and hold a credit on file. Your organization will not receive the monthly invoice as described above. Additionally, if your organization is required to submit a purchase order, we will invoice you upon receipt of the purchase order. You will not receive invoices as described above.

*Organizations enrolled in direct billing may withdraw candidates up to 24 hours prior to testing appointments at no cost.
** A candidate’s application expires when the candidate does not test within their 90-day ‘Authorization to Schedule’ period.
Please note that candidates must follow PTCB's cancellation policy or the organization responsible for payment will incur charges for candidates with a 'no-show' status.
