Rose hopes to be a role model for other pharmacy technicians and is committed to earning all of the PTCB certificates. She offers this advice: “I believe more knowledge is power. It gives you confidence and the light to guide your path and set goals. This helps you advance in your career and deliver the best care for your patients.”

Tell us about your career path and goals.

I was inspired to join a pharmacy technician training course and after a few months of an externship at a large chain retail pharmacy, I was hired by the company. While working there, I've come to realize many pharmacy technicians don't have certifications and don't know the possibilities of further advancements in their careers. As a result, I decided to become a role model and started taking the PTCB certification exams. I plan to take all the exams and hopefully inspire other technicians to take a step forward.

How have PTCB’s certificates helped you?

As an Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician, I have the knowledge and skills to achieve my full potential as a technician in any healthcare setting. Earning the Medication Therapy Management Certificate and Medication History Certificate helped me better understand the patient's side of drug adherence issues and how to guide them to help themselves or seek help regarding their medication regimen.

What advice would you give pharmacy technicians as they explore their unique career paths?

These credentials definitely help technicians gain insight into why they are doing what they do every day at work, and how it helps them and the people they serve. I believe more knowledge is power. It gives you confidence and the light to guide your path and set goals. This helps you advance in your career and deliver the best care for your patients, not only in a pharmacy setting but also in other areas of healthcare.
