Have you ever wondered how PTCB began? More than 25 years ago, two pharmacy leaders met in South Bend, Indiana for a conversation that influenced the decision to create one national certification program for pharmacy technicians.

In honor of our 25th anniversary, PTCB CEO and Executive Director William Schimmel dives into the story behind the creation of PTCB with founding board members Larry Wagenknecht, RPh and Scott Meyers, RPh, MS, FASHP.

Learn about that initial meeting and how the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists joined forces with the Michigan Pharmacists Association to establish a single standard and ultimately create PTCB with the help of several other pharmacy organizations.

Larry and Scott discuss their surprises and expectations over the past 25 years as well as how they envision the future of the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and what lies ahead for PTCB.
