Certified Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) Program

Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician™ (CSPT™) Program Launch

In December, PTCB launched the PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician™ (CSPT™) Program offering CPhTs the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skill as specialized technicians in compounded sterile preparation. The CSPT credential demonstrates a CPhT’s commitment to medication safety by meeting the program’s high standards. Employers who choose to employ CSPTs show they value excellence and the highest level of training and preparation, and are better able to establish a career ladder within their pharmacy team. The CSPT Program is the first new certification program PTCB has offered since introducing the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Program in 1995 when the organization was founded.

Why Choose PTCB?

PTCB leads. PTCB was the first national pharmacy technician certification program in the US, founded in 1995, and continues to be the certification body most trusted by the pharmacy community.

“Ensuring that individuals working inside clean rooms are well trained is critical to achieving safety in sterile compounding. By earning the PTCB CSPT credential, a technician shows they are committed to providing patients with the best care possible. Technicians are interested in CSPT Certification because it will give them a national credential that transfers with them. Internally, my employer is changing our career ladder to incorporate the CSPT Certification. We’ve rewritten job descriptions, and included incentives and raises for technicians who earn the CSPT. ”
