I am very proud to work at an institution that values technician advancement and supports growth and innovation in technician roles.
Traditionally, billing and reimbursement roles have been occupied by business professionals, who have little knowledge of pharmacy processes, or by pharmacists. The difference in experience and skill set between these two is striking. It creates a gap and a need for a new approach. Clerical billing errors and lack of payment-captures together account for a large percentage of missed revenue for many health systems and stand-alone pharmacies.
At Vanderbilt University Medical Center, we started utilizing technicians in these roles many years ago. We see, as PTCB does, the value of adding trained and highly skilled pharmacy technician professionals into an area of responsibility that demands accuracy and precision as well as delivery of excellent patient care.
I am very proud to work at an institution that values technician advancement and supports growth and innovation in technician roles. The new specialized Billing and Reimbursement Certificate Program offered by PTCB creates opportunities for career advancement for pharmacy technicians.
