Going the Extra Mile in Park City, Utah

"I work in Park City, Utah and COVID-19 completely changed the atmosphere both inside the pharmacy and out."

April 1, 2020

“I work in Park City, Utah and COVID-19 completely changed the atmosphere both inside the pharmacy and out. Park City is a ski town, so from about Thanksgiving, through the holidays, breaks and Sundance, it’s go time with people all around the world coming to visit the town. Usually the ski resorts are open until April, but with this everything closed early and now it’s a ghost town and Park City is on a stay-at-home order unless essential. It’s weird still seeing snow on the runs, yet there isn’t that glow on people who just came off the mountain and had the time of their lives.

Regarding the pharmacy, we had plastic shields put up and we are consistently washing our hands and sanitizing everything doing what we can to take caution. While it’s been stressful knowing you may be coming in contact with the virus itself. It has helped me realize the importance of attitude and being kind.

While I can’t cure the virus from someone, I still have an important part during this pandemic. Being a light to someone’s day by going the extra mile and giving them the best customer service possible. Letting people know we’re there for them as we pull through this pandemic. Filling their prescriptions accurately so they can get the medicine they need to feel better (and hopefully feel some relief from the current stress).

Park City has an older crowd and they’re some of the greatest people I’ve ever met. I know many of them are concerned about what is happening and what this could do to their health. I want to be there for them in times of trouble. I’m lucky enough I’m in a position that allows me to do that especially right now, and I don’t want to take that for granted, but rather take this advantage and help serve that incredible community.”
