Celebrate 2016 National Pharmacy Technician Day
on October 18

Message To Pharmacy Technicians From PTCB Executive Director and CEO
Everett B. McAllister, MPA, RPh

Tuesday, October 18, is National Pharmacy Technician Day! As a pharmacy technician, you perform important work and carry out vital roles and responsibilities in your pharmacy every day. National Pharmacy Technician Day is a special time to acknowledge your role on the pharmacy team and express appreciation for your contributions. PTCB's recent public perception survey shows that consumers are focused on safety for their families, and expect technicians who help prepare their medications to have the right credentials. By keeping your PTCB Certification current, you are helping meet public expectations for a competent workforce. Thank you for your commitment to patient care.

As a part of our celebration of the day, PTCB recently announced the 2016 PTCB CPhT of the Year, Diane Halvorson, RTech, CPhT. Ms. Halvorson is a leader in the pharmacy community, a model advocate for patient safety, and a clear and inspiring voice for technicians. Congratulations Ms. Halvorson!

Celebrate! PTCB invites you to visit PTCB’s website for ideas on ways tocelebrate in your pharmacy. Be sure to:
  • Download NEW graphics, signs, and badges to spread awareness and celebrate the day.
  • Take advantage of special discounts for technicians during October
  • Enjoy 20% off in the PTCB Store.
  • Remember to share your team photo with PTCB during October. Take a photo of your pharmacy team and send it tocontact@ptcb.org (subject line 'Tech Day photo') with your pharmacy name and city location, or you may also choose to share your photo on social media using #RXTechDay.

PTCB applauds and thanks you for your dedication and commitment to patient care and safety. Celebrate and enjoy National Pharmacy Technician Day!
