2016 Progress Report: New Interactive Format
The first-ever online version of PTCB’s annual Progress Report is mobile-friendly, and summarizes a year of research, momentum toward consensus, interaction with the pharmacy community, new PTCE practice tools, development of PTCB's specialty advanced certification program, recognition of achievement, growth in PTCB’s Advocate Program, and more progress toward fulfilling our mission to advance medication safety. Nominate a PTCB CPhT of the Year! 
PTCB is accepting nominations for the 2017 PTCB CPhT of the Year. Nominations are due by August 18, 2017. The PTCB CPhT of the Year Program honors the achievements and recognizes the contributions of outstanding CPhTs. Active CPhTs who have been PTCB Certified for at least 2 years are eligible to be nominated. Finalists will be selected by PTCB and featured in an online ballot, and the honoree will be chosen through open online voting. Learn more and nominate a CPhT!

Medication Safety Spotlight - a new series of first-person stories
“When I was asked to develop a pharmacy technician education program for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, I was thrilled at the new challenge. I had always been good at math, but I had never taught it. The one thing that surprised me was the level of stress that some students displayed each time we started calculations. CE News: Beginning in 2018, PTCB Will No Longer Accept In-Service Continuing Education
Beginning January 1, 2018, PTCB will no longer accept what is known as ‘in-service’ continuing education (CE) hours. In-service CE refers to certain projects or training earned at a CPhT's workplace under a pharmacist's supervision. The ‘in-service’ CE category will no longer appear as an option in the recertification application form beginning in January. Read more.

Toward Uniform Standards for Pharmacy Technicians: Summary of Pharmacy Technician Stakeholder Consensus Conference
PTCB sponsored a pharmacy technician stakeholder consensus conference, February 14–16 in Irving, TX. The event yielded important recommendations concerning the education, entry-level requirements, advanced practice, certification, and regulation of pharmacy technicians.

CE Update: Free CE - Pharmacist Perspective on the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids
Pharmacy technicians can earn up to 2 hours of CE credit for completing this knowledge-based activity from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy and Drug Topics. The goal of the activity is to educate pharmacists and pharmacy technicians about identifying the risks and benefits of opioid therapy.
