The community pharmacy is at the center of patient care delivery. From routine patient requests for OTC recommendations and guidance to comprehensive medication reviews and opportunities to impact patient behavior change, all members of the pharmacy team must be well prepared to efficiently and effectively communicate with patients. This CE program will offer participants an opportunity to explore effective patient counseling and behavior change skills to positively impact patient care.

Participants will learn to:
- List the stages of the trans-theoretical model of behavioral change
- Compare and contrast motivational interviewing and the trans-theoretical model, and review their uses in the community pharmacy setting
- Adopt open-ended questioning when communicating with patients
- Gather and communicate patient factors that may affect pharmacy
